“Leopard” was my first time using almost exclusively charcoal. On top of that, it was my first time undertaking a piece of this magnitude. Previously only working on a small scale, this was unexpectedly relaxing. Flying through this work amidst a glorious summer break was endless fun. However……

It was one more first for me– the beginning of my outstanding battle with patience. Towards the end of every piece, I get an unrelenting urge to present the finished product. Much like technique, I’ve trained my proficiency for patience and it was a lesson learned from “Leopard.”
