Having attempted this piece years prior, I returned to it with a greater sense of confidence. Nonetheless, “Callie” was daunting, as it was my first time drawing an animal– no less my own cat.

At the time, the furry texture and overwhelming blanket offered an opportunity to develop a proclivity for building textures. I developed skills that I’d later use to create some of my favorite artworks.

“Callie” is where it all began.
